beauty product & skincare post

I am definitely not the most knowledgable or skilled person when it comes to applying makeup, but recently I've been really into it! Thanks to hellocotton I've discovered a few great makeup blogs...pinterest helps too (check out my makeup inspiration board here). I love blog posts that go over personal beauty products and skincare, so I thought I would do one of my own. Of course, everyone's skin is different so keep that in mind. :) You might also notice I haven't gotten too adventurous with eye makeup yet, haha!

sorry for the half-assed picture...

Facial cleanser: Clinique liquid facial soap (mild) and Cetaphil daily facial cleanser
I follow this with Clinique clarifying lotion. My face is super prone to dry skin so I use number 1!

Moisturizer: Dr. Hauschka rose day cream light
A few tubes were gifted to me from JJ's mother, so please excuse the price! It is quite expensive. However, it works really well. My second choice would be Clinique moisture surge. Can you tell I'm a little partial to Clinique yet? Haha!

Foundation: MAKE UP FOR EVER HD foundation
I started using this my third year of college when a friend recommended it to me. I highly recommend it! Just bought my second one recently so they last a long time.

Brushes: Sonia Kashuk
I own the purse brush set and the bent eyeliner brush. I like them! I actually found that I preferred the Sonia eyeliner brush over one I bought from Mac. If there are other good and affordable brushes let me know. :)

Mascara: Covergirl Lash Blast

Eyebrow wax: NYX eyebrow shaper
My eyebrows can get a little crazy sometimes, so this is a good quick fix to keep them in place. The only bummer is, I don't own a jumbo pencil sharpener! I have to remember to find one next time I stop by Ulta...

Eyeliner (pencil): NYX slim eye pencil and ELF brightening eyeliner
I own a very dark brown of each brand, and one white pencil from NYX.

Eyeliner (gel): Mac fluidline gel formula in blacktrack
It took a while to get the hang of using gel liner, but with the help of my bent eyeliner brush and a bit of practice I think I've got it! Definitely worth the money, it's lasted me a long time so far.

Lips: NYX round lipstick in B52

I hope that wasn't boring! I would love suggestions for:

  • eyeshadow sets (preferably pinks/beiges/golds)
  • lipstick colors
  • brushes
I like subtle, natural looks...but I'm open to experiment! :) Thanks in advance for any advice.
